Background of the Organization
 
A group of like-minded social activists, with their vision to a sustainable social development, joined hands together for meaningful social interventions to protect the rights and to safeguard the interests of the backward and underprivileged sections of the society through art and craft.
 
Organizational Mission
 
The Mission of the organization is to conserve the rich art & cultural heritage of India by improving the livelihoods of the rural artisans by empowering them.
 
Objective
 
  • To research different folk & tribal art & craft of India.
  • To organize national and international level seminars and festivals to popularize Indian folk & tribal art & craft in India and abroad.
  • To provide skill training, counseling and other support to women artisans and other poor women who have no social support system to rely on. We aim at enhancing self reliance and autonomy of women by upgrading their productivity and intensifying their income generating activities.
 
Organizational Structure
 
The organizational structure consists of three types of members i.e. the patron(s) , the life members and general members. The patrons are those members who pay endowments by cash or property, life members are those members who pay the prescribed life membership fee and general members are those who pay prescribed general membership fee. The organization’s governing body consists of one president, one vice president, secretary, asst. secretary, treasurer and member(s). The body holds a meeting after every three months to discuss among its members all outstanding issues and the ways to resolve these issues. It is the responsibility of the secretary to run general day-to-day organizational workings.
 
The top management of the organization consists of two entities - , the General Member, and the Executive Committee .The  Board is responsible for a number of tasks, for example to elect General Secretary, develop and approve budgets, etc. Board members will also to champion the NGO's cause, and represent the NGO to the larger community. Next comes the Secretary. she is responsible for the overall direction in which the NGO moves, and the responsibility for managing the day-to-day activities of the NGO. The Board of Directors and the Secretary sometimes assisted by advisors. The General Members are a group of all such members, including its board members and staff members. Next comes Staff members of NGO who are responsible for the day-to-day functioning, and implementing of its programmes and projects. They report to the Secretary, who overall is responsible for the NGO's activities.

Abanti Chakraborty (PRESIDENT)

Sushree Abanti Chakraborty was born on 3 June 1976 at Kolkata. She is a post graduate in Applied Linguistics & Translation Studies from Central University, Hyderabad. She has received training in Bharatanatyam under Ram Pal and Hindustani Vocal under Ustad Mashkur Ali Khan. She started her directorial venture at a young age with the play Emilia and Three Angels. Further, she directed Arun Barun Kiranmala, Himsuka, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Thatri Medea, Putuler Chithi, Raktagantha and Ranjabati Sen. She founded her group Aarshi Theatre in 2006 and made a mark as a young talent early in life. She got opportunity to visit New Zealand, New Jersey, Maine, Houston, San Francisco and Bangladesh.
Sushree Abanti Chakraborty was invited as a Research Fellow in direction in the Yale School of Drama, for workshop at Buddhist Theatre Society on text and performance in Sri Lanka and presented a paper and performance 'Nora' for the Ibsen Conference in Norway.
Sushree Abanti Chakrabory is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar of Sangeet Natak Akademi for the year 2009 for her notable talent in the field of theatre direction.
 
DR CHARU PRIYADARSHINI (VICE PRESIDENT)
Dr. CHARU PRIYADARSHINI is MD and a medical practitioner by profession.
 
 
SONALI CHAKRABORTY (SECRETARY)
SONALI CHAKRABORTY is the current secretary of the organization and she is a renowned social worker who has past experience of working with women empowerment projects and life skill training.
 
ASHIM BHATTACHARIYA (ASST SECRETARY)
A Graduate from Kolkata University and completed his post Graduation on Mass Communication from NSOU is a social worker . He is currently applying his experience and knowledge in implementing and developing the lives of the rural artisans.
 
BISWANATH DEY (TREASURER)
is an accountant and audit consultant whose advice is sought regularly by famous corporations on accountancy and audit related matters.
 
BAYABEN DEBJI (MEMBER)
BAYABEN DEBJI, a national award winner Kachhi weaver from Bhujouri , Gujarat.
 
GITA BAIN BIKRAM BHAI BALASARA (MEMBER)
GITA BAIN BIKRAM BHAI BALASARA, a national award winner kasida embroidery artisan from Gujarat.
